Mesothelioma and Asbestos Exposure
Hexavalent Chromium exposure is now thought to result in severe medical and psychological problems for returning vets. The Oregonian newspaper story on March 6, 2009 details new research and new notifications by the VA and the National Guard. The chemical was strewn around water treatment plants in Iraq by Saddam Hussein's troops as they abandoned the sites. Coughs, rashes, immune system disorders, and cancer can result.
We offer resources, comfort, assistance to veterans returning
home from the Iraqi and Afghanistan conflict, Vietnam, Korea, and World War II. We are a
clearing house whose goal is to be a support service for vets.
" 'You veterans are the light at the tip of the candle. You burn hot and bright. You understand deeply the nature of suffering.' Thich Nhat Hahn. biography
"He told us that the only way to heal, to transform suffering, is to stand face to face with suffering, to realize the intimate details of suffering, and how life in the present is affected by it. He encouraged us to talk about our experiences, and told us that we deserved to be listened to, to be understood. He said we represented a powerful force for healing in the world."
